The outside dining area of the cafe was very enjoyable to eat at at this time of year. The breeze was cool and refreshing, and everything was relaxed and enjoyable. Amy watched Everett as he leaned his head back slightly, turning his face towards the sun, its rays glinting softly on his hair. She took the menu that he was handing her, and opened it to a random page, deciding, “Why don’t you surprise me.” She smiled at him, wondering what she would be eating for lunch.
When Everett brought his eyes back to Amy, he noticed how she tried to watch him without being noticed and he chuckled as he leaned back into the seat, flipping the menu open to look through the pages. He lifted his eyes over the menu then back at the pages again, humming quietly in thought. “Let’s see then. Hm..are you any opposed to pasta? They have amazing lasagna.” Everett laughed lightly as he went through the pages, “Or maybe we could just go with a simple steak. What do you want?” He questioned again, and wondered if he had by any chance made himself sound stupid - what was it about this girl that made him so flustered?
He really has good taste in food, Amy thought as she casually flipped through the pages as he chose options to present to her. “Lasagna sounds great,” Amy said, “It was one of my favorite foods when I was growing up. My aunt used to make it every time I came over, it was delicious.” She thought back to all of the times that she had been to her aunt’s house, and when she would make the lasagna, and all of the other foods. She remembered how she and her cousins would always help with the cooking, even though there wasn’t always that much for them to do. She really did love those visits a lot. “So what about you? What are you going to eat?”

“I guess so,” Amy replied, smiling. She could feel the breeze flowing softly through her air, and she could see Everett glancing over at her occasionally, smirking a bit, as he usually did. She was happy that it was a Friday; no more classes for a few days, a nice break. And maybe if today went well with him, she might see him again. Don’t get ahead of yourself, Amy. Don’t do this to yourself, not again. Just see how it goes.
Everett led her into the cafe and had the waiter get them a table for two on the open-air parlor. He pulled out the chair for her to be seated before he sat down on the seat opposite from hers - and his eyes cast upwards at the sun, scrunching up his face softly as he leaned into the seat, tapping his fingers against the glass table before he nodded at the waiter with a grateful smile as he brought them the menus. He handed one to Amy and smiled broadly at her, “You order something to drink and something to eat. Or I’m picking.” Everett said with a playful grin.

The air was surprisingly calm, seeing as it had been a bit windy for the past few days. The cool air felt refreshingly nice against her skin. Amy laughed at his remark, saying, “Ah yeah… So grown up, now, right?” Amy tried to do what he said, putting bits of pressure on her leg, even though it caused her to limp slightly. When they reached Everett’s car, he stepped over to open the door for her. How gentlemanly, she thought, just even more charming aspects of him. “Most likely, yes,” Amy replied, laughing slightly. “It is a rather small town. Sometimes I wish that it was bigger, but the smallness seems to just… fit it, I guess.”
“It’s cozy.” Everett said in a slightly playful as he drove off. He glanced sideways at her occasionally and smiled as the wind wiped through her mahogany curls. A loop-sided smirk grew on his face before he turned back to the small narrow street, his eyes searching out the sign for the cafe. Finally, he put his car into a careful park and exited it to hold the door open for Amy again, holding out his hand for her to hold onto so she could stand up - and as she did so, he flashed a grin at her that he usually knew made girls melt. But Everett wouldn’t take other girls for coffee - he pondered himself and narrowed his eyes. Amy sure had something about her.
